Psalms 146 Verse 2 says: I will praise the Lord all my life and I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. The Lord loves it when we praise Him and worship Him. One of the main things the Lord expects from His people is that we praise Him and thank Him.
And yes, there are reasons to praise Him. He has saved us from our sinful life. We cannot do anything to the Lord in return for this. All we can do is to praise Him wholeheartedly. That is God’s will too!
At the same time, God wants us to praise Him as He pleases – His way of praising and worshiping.
According to Psalms 26: 6,7, if we have to praise the Lord we cannot do it as we please. We cannot live by our own wish and will.
Rather we should wash our hands in innocence. If we praise the Lord with a pure heart, the Lord will come between us and fill us with His presence (say in a worship). Our worship should be in accordance with the Lord’s wish.
Our praise and worship can be in two ways –
(i) Either as in the ways of Cain (or) (ii) as that of Abel.
They both had the wish and longing to worship the Lord. But only Abel’s worship and offering were accepted by the Lord. Cain followed his own ways to worship the Lord. He brought whatever he pleased as the offering. But that is not what the Lord wanted!
God has given His blood (until the last drop) to save us. Our salvation is not something that is bought with money, silver or gold. So we must take it very seriously!
In Psalms 146:5 we read that if our hope is our Lord and if our help comes solely from the Lord, we are blessed. No one will be willing to die for a sinner but our Lord did that.
If we believe and trust in other men and if we put our hope in our flesh and strength, the Lord says that we are cursed (Jeremiah 17:5).
The Lord wants us to put all our trust and hope in Him and Him only. If we solely rely on Him and praise and worship Him wholeheartedly, He will be pleased. Also we should be pure in our heart in order to praise Him!
