Psalm 34: 12 says that man shall seek goodness till the end of his life. Mathew 7:7 says that if you seek you will find. Man is bound to seek in his life. As a matter of fact, God has created everything for us in a blessed way.
When sin entered into the world through Adam and Eve, the curse came upon the man and his surroundings. And, God has given His commandments and showed his statutes to man.
If we obey Him we will be blessed in life. As God has given us complete freedom, you are free to choose between good and bad. If you make wrong choices in life, you have to bear the resulting consequences.
There are many characters in the Bible. Some of them made the right choices and some of them made wrong choices. Wise men went in search of the Savior of the world. They saw the star and they made the right beginning.
They came to the king and inquired about the new born king. It was unfortunate that they went to the wrong place and inquired a wrong person. The king in his guile told those wise men to seek and find the newborn king and also instructed them to inform him so that he too can worship the new born king.
The story ended on a good note as wise men not only found the new born king but also went away with a new way being warned of Angels.
You should also seek the right person. Gehazi instead of seeking the good things from his master Elisha went after covetousness and wanted to possess wrong things from the wrong person (Naaman). It cost him leprosy. Gehazi bore the consequence.
The leprosy which was on Naaman came upon Gehazi. When Jesus was in fasting for 40 days in the desert, Satan took the opportunity to tempt Him. Satan wanted to defeat Him by showing the good things of this world.
Jesus was able to defeat the same with the good things of higher world. He had answers for every reason and He didn’t succumb to Satan’s lure of lust of this world.
St. Paul who was once an enemy of Christ and who persecuted the church had become a completely transformed person. He counted not the things of this world for the very sake of the knowledge of Christ.
Children can receive Goodness of life by obeying their parents. It is a commandment from God attached to a promise of long life. Joseph is an excellent character in the Bible who did seek his father’s blessings. The fear of God and obedience to parents take children to new heights in their lives. It was proven in Joseph’s life.
Even though Joseph was despised and was sold by his very own brothers, he kept his faith in God. In due time, God uplifted him. He didn’t only ascend the throne of the kingdom as a prime minister but also saved his very own family from severe drought. He became a fruitful bough by seeking goodness in spite of all odds in his life.
In Genesis, we find the relation between Lot and Abraham. When Lot went after his own way, Abraham pursued him and made peace with him. This is nothing but showing the goodness.
We are living in a world where we see violence, hatred, jealousy and selfishness everywhere. There are millions of precious souls crying for peace, love and harmony. God expects His people who are washed in His precious blood to love others as themselves and to continue to love as Hebrew 13: 1 says, “Let brotherly love continue”.
